Hannah Scibetta Final Portrait Paragraph
I decided I want to continue exploring the way photography can have make satirical comments on society. I really enjoyed photographing the food; however, I am a big fan of the rest of Martin Parr's work. I often find that I am someone who is able to take myself out of a situation and evaluate everything going on around me. Therefore, for this final project I am going to try and make a collection of street style (documentary) photos that capture the true humor in the various communities in my life. I am going to try and keep my camera on me at all times so that I won't miss a comedic moment. I really like the raw images Parr was able to create in Brighton, England and I feel like I can find those moments within my various friend groups and even within my family. I will have the opportunity to take pictures of my friends and I hanging out, sitting in class, traveling to other schools, etc. I will even be going home to a large Italian Easter that could have some great potential for photos. It may be slightly challenging considering there is little to no preparation for this style of photography; however, if I have my camera around my neck, I shouldn't have too many issues taking pictures. Also, this style of photography is less about the people themselves, but the situation that is being presented and the environment that is affecting them. I think I can have a lot of fun with this project because I will be able to take my pictures in a more on-the-go style, and I do not need a car to get me to my locations since it will be taking place everywhere I go regardless.
