Henri Cartier- Bresson is a famous photographer known to
master candid photography which is pictures capture of someone without them
being aware or in other words photographs that is unplanned. Cartier-Bresson
was born in Chanteloup-en-Brie Seine-et-Marne France as the oldest of five
children. His parents supported him with anything he chose to do with his life
which allowed him to pursue photography more freely than others.
Cartier-Bresson was also into painting and sketching. His photographs consist
of being black and white and most consists of lines leading to the subject or
the main scene being portrayed in his photographs. I would explain his images
to someone that will never see it as random, unplanned, mysterious, black and
white and contains various lines that leads you into his photographs following
along to the main point.
Annie
Leibovitz Is an American female photographer whose work were inspired by
Richard Avedon. Annie was born in Waterbury Connecticut in a family that
traveled a lot because her father was in the Army. The Army kept them moving
from one location to the next. Annie became moved by portrait photography in
which she became the first woman to have held an exhibition at London’s Nation
Portrait Gallery. When she attended the art institute in San Francisco she was
influence to emulate photographs from Robert Frank, and Henry Cartier-Bresson
she stated “their style of personal reportage-taken in a graphic way-was what
we were taught to emulate.” She has successfully landed a job at Rolling Stone
as a chief photographer. Annie’s photographs can be seen as iconic or
provocative. Her trademark became hers with the use of primary colors and
surprising poses. Annie's photographs can be described as powerful and
beautiful many photos she has taken consists of women some with them in power
delivering a beautiful message. I would explain this to someone that will never
see this photo as very elegant, planned, mostly colorful, some provocative and
includes nudity of the beautiful human body.
A great
photographer who inspired Annie is Richard Avedon. Avedon was born May 15, 1923
in New York City. His family owned a clothing business in which he enjoyed
photographing the clothes there. Avedon started his photography career
photographing people for identification in the Marines and then moved on to
photographing fashion for Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue. The style of photography
Avedon enjoyed was portraits, his photographs were seen to be surreal and
provocative. The portraits taken by him mostly consisted of a white background
focusing on the subject in a natural pose that made them feel like themselves.
Explaining his photographs to someone that may never see it I would say
consists of a portrait style picture, most pictures contained a white
background making the subject to be the only thing your eyes are drawn to. His
photographs are black and white consisting with high contract allowing the
black look very deep. The subjects he uses in his photographs are to be seen in
their natural environment even though you can’t tell without the background but
they are photographed in their most natural pose that made them unique.
